At a Glance of Upazilla Ansar-VDP, Sadar, Sylhet

Among the 13 upazilas of Sylhet district, a brief description of  Upazilla Ansar-VDP, Sadar, Sylhet is given below:


There are 370 villages in 08 unions of Sylhet Sadar Upazila and 36 wards of Sylhet City Corporation, known as Saint Valley of Shahjalal-Shahparan. It is known as 360 Saint’s country.

Authorized manpower of upazila office 03, (01 Officer and one Upazila instructor are working), 05 union leaders & 07 female leaders, in 08 unions, 03 union Ansar company commanders. There are 07 ward leaders and 14 feamle ward leaders in 24 wards of Sylhet City Corporation.


Upazila Ansar and VDP office is located in Mira Bazar area of Sylhet City Corporation on 10 decimel of its own land. It is situated beside the Sylhet-Tamabil road.


The upazila office is a one-storied building and has beautiful grounds.

It takes 20 minutes to reach in Sadar Upazila Ansar VDP Office from M. A. G. International Airport. At the same time, you can also be reached the office from Kadmatoli bus station.


Sylhet Sadar Upazila has 87 short guns in different guards. A total of 766 embodied Ansar members (21 PCs, 25 APCs, 689 Male Ansars and 31 Female Ansars), 2 Special Ansars are working in 52 Ansar Guards including Banks of the Upazila. and 10 VDP members are deployed in several government offices for security purpose.
